Co-Ed Emergency Shelter
Our emergency shelter, known as the COED facility, has the capacity to house 18 youth; 9 females and 9 males. The youth are ages 12 to 17 years old. The program is purely voluntary. The legal guardian/parent and the youth decide if the program is for them. The length of stay is up to 30 days. Extensions are determined on a case to case basis. Some of the services offered are case management, youth groups such as anger management, self esteem and drug and alcohol groups. Art workshops are also available to youth residing in the shelters. Local artists in Guam share their talent with the youth and pass on their skills and knowledge. A grant from the Council of Arts and Humanities make the art workshops possible. Personal growth and enrichment outings include picnics, sports recreation for youth during the weekends. Basketball, Frisbee and volleyball are just some of the sport recreation activities they participate in. Walks on the beach and having picnics in the parks are some of the enrichment activities the staff accompanies youth for fun time.
