COPED

Prevention continues to be the key element in resolving youth issues such as substance abuse and violence. Time and time again, Sanctuary has continually applied this technique and approach with success. Community Outreach, Prevention, Education & Development (COPED) staff work to help young people by providing outreach, education and prevention programs in their community and school. COPED provides substance abuse and violence prevention services with a culturally diverse and sensitivity model focusing on science based services.

COPED also provides multi-workshops and seminars for all of Sanctuary's clients as well as the general community. Requests can be made for a workshop or seminar on a variety of different topics related to drugs and alcohol. The workshops vary in length and can be tailored to the needs of the customers. Aside from these, COPED also hosts an annual conference "Too Cool to Do Drugs". This event encourages and emphasize not only youth involvement but also their parent(s) and/or guardian(s).

The Youth Embracing Sanctuary (YES) Crew is a component under the COPED Program. It is an organization comprised of youth between the ages 12-21 and are interested in volunteering with us and becoming active members in the community. Membership is open to any youth who exhibits positive character ad citizenship.

COPED is always doing fun things to enhance the quality of youth. Come back to see what events are coming up!
